I am collecting together the perfect summer playlist. What I currently have is an odd assortment: mainly 60s blues based stuff and surf pop, but Joe Strummer staggered in halfway through and told me that he wouldn’t leave.
When I was a kid we had this CD called ‘Sunny Afternoons’ in the car every year. It was the perfect assortment of songs for summer (this is reflected in the fact that it is going for around £30 on EBay).I hope to re-create its essence without stealing (all) the tracks from it.
The first song, Let’s Go Trippin’ by Dick Dale, is a tribute to the late John Peel – the king of disc jockeys. It was the theme tune for his ‘Home Truths’ programme on Radio 4 which I used to wake-up to every Saturday morning. I still expect to hear that voice fade-in at the end of its intro.
The playlist, although still in the works, can be found by clicking the picture above.
